Uber Eats has increased its grocery delivery options in response to three markets being significantly impacted by COVID-19.
April 1, 2020 — Uber Eats announced today that it has partnered with different companies in France, Spain and Brazil to assist more customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The demands on home food delivery is exploding throughout the world, and Uber Eats is rising to the challenge.
In France, they have partnered with Carrefour to provide 30-minute home deliveries. This is Uber Eats’ first partnership with a major supermarket in Europe. These deliveries will include a variety of options including essential food items, cleaning products and household goods. The increased service is to begin in 15 stores in Paris and then progress to nationwide service in the coming weeks.
In Spain, Uber Eats has partnered with Galp. The increased services will include food items, over-the-counter medicine, drinks and cleaning products. The services will be offered in eight provinces including Badajoz, Barcelona, Cádiz, Córdoba, Madrid, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia.
In Brazil, they have partnered with a variety of pharmacies, pet stores and convenience locations in Sao Paulo. The goal is to work with these different companies to provide delivery of basic supplies to a large number of customers in rapid time.
Aside from these three latest partnerships, Uber Eats has also partnered with Coles in Australia and Costcutter in the UK. These partnerships have provided 600 independent convenience stores to their app.
Uber Eats has emphasized that it is continuing to explore opportunities to partner with more supermarkets, grocery chains and convenience stores throughout the world as the pandemic continues to take hold. They continue to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, players in the food delivery service market.
